I do not rotate my tires myself but have decided to. I currently have BFG 33x12.50's. I was talking to someone today and they told me these tires only get rotated front to back. Is this correct? I also have a full size spare do i need to throw that in the mix.
Oh yeah this is on my 88 4runner.

this is the crap i got. "them tires have steel belts in them and when they are on one side and you break the steel gives one way. if you rotate them to the other side and you break the steel in the tires gives the other way and that is not good" This is what the guy said at the tire and muffler place i went to today

if there radials then yes front to back. there more than likely radails. and as Slacker said check to see if there direcctional but i dont think they are.
as for the spare tire ... if its brand new or newer then i wouldnt. i would just leave it out of the 'mix'
ive switched lots of tires to the other side. you shouldnt but ive never had a problem. only bias ply you should really 'cross over' sides
just go front to back
just my opinion

I've had a little personal experience with this. I put studded tires on my wife's Mustang every winter. Les Schwab doesn't seem to feel the need to put the summer tires back on turning in the same direction as the previous year. We have had 3 tires delaminate the tread on Toyo tires in 3 years. I'm thinkin' rotating them front to back would be a good idea. I bought a new set of rims and will be doing my own changes from now on!!!
