Hey all first post here, I am a crazy avid toyota guy. I have been looking for a trekker for the better part of 10 years to "build" I own a couple toyota's including a super sweet SAS 88 runner and a Full tube chassis toyota rock crawlin buggy. Just today I found a pretty good looking trekker with a bad motor in the classified adds. 1000.00 for it and a 81 long bed truck for some parts and such. So at 7 am tomorrow (sunday) I am traveling 600 miles round trip with my 46 foot gooseneck to pick them both up Now the good part!! I have 96 4runner with the 3.4L V-6, that has some front end damage, I was going to SAS it but now...im thinking I need to stuff that 3.4 in the trekker! HMMMMM yes..V-6. Anyway I will be posting some pics as things progress. Attachments:

Well were back! Due to me forgetting DLST We left an hour earlier this morning to go pick up the new trekker. All went well, we bought it and another 81 truck for misc parts for the trekker and some other toyota projects I have. I have attached a pic of my tow rig trailer and both of the toys I bought. The trekker is in pretty good shape physicaly, Mechanicly its not great...but who cares! Its a Trekker! Right now at my house I have a great running 22re and the 3.4 liter V-6. Well, I guess what the plan is so far is to strip it down to the frame and start there with a frame off restro, I plan on replacing anything that needs really replaced, putting in the 3.4 liter for powerplant, some sort of 3-4 inch lift with 35's, lockers, dualcases, custom bumpers sliders and some crazy custom paint job (you can see from the tow rig I take paint seriously ) I assume it will take about 6 months to do it right....So I should be around alot now. I will photo and video the entire build process. I'm really excited...does it show? Anyway thats how my day went . Attachments:

OK Corey, how and the heck do you ever make any money with all the post's you make everywhere! LOL Google search "trekker" Or "trekker 3.4 swap" And its all Corey! HAHA So it appears you have done the very swap I want to do, The million dollar question is....Would you recommend it? I am in the middle of reading your build thread on yotatech and it looks awesome. Whats your thoughts on it? I already have the doner runner but it appears that no one makes any sort of "kit" to help in the swap process? I know ORS makes a kit but it appears to be based off second gen trucks not first.

I work hard !! .. I think I'm on the top of the list , just simply , when I started my swap , or the idea of doing this swap , it hadnt been done before .. not in the 79-83 model truck anyway .. I talked to ORS way back when , they said they had done it , but would off NO information .. there kit they had was based on the 84-88 model truck . I searched the internet for about a year , and found NO information .. and thats when I decided to do it . and adding a supercharger , would just be "over the top" firing that engine up for the first time was a very cool feeling .. and I cant wait to drive that almost 300HP truck !! worth it ... HELL YEAH !!!It was good chatting with you on the phone today .. I hope I offered some insite ? Looking forward to your posts .. and remember .. the members here are all really quality people , and all know what there talking about ... and all willing to help as best we can .

Looks good man, at least in the little pics, for some reason they dont work when i click on them to make them larger?
I dont know of any other kits either for the 3.4 swap, and ORS is no longer in business but it cant be too difficult, a buddy and I swapped a 22re in my Trekker and i had never touched a wiring harness before that. Just get a GOOD wiring diagram, spend a lot of time figuring out what you need and dont need and start hooking it all up, it really wasnt as hard as i expected.
