New member from Shepherdstown WV, Ive owned my 1988 Toyota 4x4 Xcab V6 truck with a full fiberglass bed from B&G Fiberglass, and a few minor additions like Bilstein shocks, Downy springs & frame brace, ball joint spacers etc for the last 14 years, it was my first car and I still have it!!! I'm in the process of buying a 1981 Trekker from a friends husbands brother! Its been sitting for a couple years but ran fine when they last used it. I looked at it last year and it was used but not rusted out or beat to death just dirty!

Thanks! The Trekker that Im looking at is red, I spoke to the owner last night for a while, it was just taken off the road last week and has a rebuilt carb. I hope that I can meet up with the guy this weekend and at least take a look if not bring it home!!!

I am! I can be in VA, MD or WV in about 10 minutes! We are about an hour west of Washington DC. Ill definitely keep you in the loop, Im really not sure what these things are worth, if he asks me to make an offer! Im going to check the cab and frame for rust, what else should I look for? Ive been wrenching on my 88 for years but its a totally different machine, Im not familiar with the solid axle trucks!

The only thing that would worry me on this year Toyota is rust, mechanically they will run forever. The 22R engine & drive train are a piece of cake to work on.
