ever since i was old enough to reach the pedals i have always had a liking for Toyota's. that even further progressed when i was actually old enough to drive them ... legally!

i started my own company this summer (mostly geared toward the oil and gas industry) but have built a few trucks in the past months.

i just thought i'd share all my past and present trucks

1989 Toyota Pickup

this was the first truck i purchased at the age of 16



this picture is after i restored it a couple years later

those are fiberglass box sides from toyotafiberglass.com ;D



unfortunately about a month later some loser decided to pull a u turn right in front of me. it was written off but i bought it back for salvage

1990 Toyota Pickup

this truck i purchased after the destruction of my '89. this picture was about 4 years before i owned it, as you can see restored



this is when i purchased it



after i'd been driving it for about a year



unfortunatly due to icy road conditions and extremely bald tires i joined the 'roll over' club. truck wasnt written off, but was retired with a supercharged 3.4l and long travel suspension waiting ;D

1990 Toyota 4Runner

i purchased this with blown headgaskets, fixed everything, drove it for a while, then sold it to make profit



1993 Toyota Pickup

purchased this truck with a special build request from a friend. needed a bunch of engine work as well as other minor things.
added a roll bar, bush bumper, lights, stereo system, and custom 2" lift



1990 Toyota 4Runner

just picked up this. 5" trail gear lift, cross over steering, SAS, replaced the coils with leaves in the back. needs engine and drive line work but the price was right

Caylen ... I didnt know the red one was writen off That unit had a ton of NEW parts ... glad I guess you bought it back .

ya it was pretty unfortunate ... actually it really sucked!

most of the parts are still good including the fibergloss box sides and doors. the front end took all the damage. cab is still good just needs new front clip

ha ha ya its kind of an addiction! cant seem to pass up a good deal ;D

so was a little bored last weekend and just got my hands on a good welder ;D

nearing completion of my 4runner i decided to build myself a bumper, mainly made out of 2" x 2" x 3/16" square tubing. really had no original plan .. just started building. a couple rum's usually help with creativity!!
























installed!! also made a simple bracket for my winch to fit in the reciever

alright so i need some input here ... this 4runner has to pass an out of province inspection.

the only real thing that it is missing is an emergency brake. because it is lifted the stock cables don't reach anymore. at first i though of using a line lock but found out it has to be 'mechanical'

i then checked in to driveline e brakes ... but none make it for the automatic.

i think im stuck with making my own ... i thought of making it out of an old snowmobile disk brake .... any ideas?

maybe check out the pics on sky's off road manufacturing and all pro off road (i am sure you already did)

the snowmobile conversion sounds interesting...I would be curious to see that one done.

other thought would be a cable extension for the existing e-brake...

Yup ive seen them pics. I've also seen a few where they used mountain bike and go cart disk brakes.

the only reason i thought snowmobile is that i do have a disk and a caliper. machining the disk would be easy and building the bracket would be to. i just have to clear the automatic transmission shifter linkage. thats the tough part

i also thought of lengthening the existing cable but i like to be different and i also already welded shut the holes on the backing plate

I think 4crawler off road make a driveshaft spacer, wonder if you put one on the rear output shaft if that would move it back far enough to give you the clearance you need for the linkage

hmm good idea! ill have to get underneath and do some measuring.

the only problem then is i'd have to get my drive shaft shortened. something like 200$ here!

ok so turns out .. there is no way a disk will fit with all the transmssion/transfercase linkages.

and the drive shaft spacer would not make a difference as all the kits have the disk bolt on to the back of the flange ... unless i put the disk between the spacer and DS yoke

Thought i'd post up some carnage pics.

This is now my 4Runner again. I bought it back after the guy rolled it a few weeks ago. He wasnt wearing a seatbelt but somehow walked away. Lucky!
