i'm thinking of maybe changing the fuel filler pocket on my build ..
I have been thinking of this for quite awhile , thinking it would come to me as the build progressed , but now it's getting closer and I'm still unsure of what I want to do with it .
changing it , will mean not staying "true" to the trekker , which I think I have done , even with my inside modifications ... I could put a locking cap on there , and call er' good ... but I'm a little concerned about someone messin with it . I was also thinking of maybe a billit assembly .. or maybe even a stock /83 locking fuel filler pocket and lid ...
any opinions ?

IMO you have done an awesome job staying true to the concept of the trekker but the thing is now supercharged with a couple of extra cylinders (yes I have engine envy)
with the way things are today I would go the secure route and make it lockable...the '83 system would help maintain some 1st Gen integrity...

I like the stock fuel door idea. I've toyed with the idea myself.

Holy crap Corey did i hit a nerve the other day? Sorry pal. How about a nice round gas door that attaches using the three filler neck mounting screws. Say a thin plate over the portion of the filler that protrudes into the pocket, but not so big that it fits over the cap, over to the front of the pocket where you could then bend out towards the body to mount a hinge. This way you could remove if you want with no trace it was ever there. Vince

nope , as I mentioned , I have wanted to do "something" with the fuel pot ever since I started ..
problem with just attaching something , is the flare is in the way . I have never seen anything that will work ..

I haven't been able to find an up close pic of the fuel pocket showing the prox. of the flare.

best one I can find so far .. but I think I understand better now what your saying.. not one of those bolt on billit doors , but one that fits into the existing hole .. I like that idea

so this is the route I want to go ... I think i'm going to have to manufacture someting because I checked all day long for a 5" fuel lid with a compatable hinge system .. and NO GO !!
I will keep you apprised .....
