OK after 4 years ive pulled the trekker into the garage, what a freaking mess. This trucks been driven hard and put away wet, and thats no joke. The topper leaves like a siv and the sunroof too, really bad. This truck has seen better days thats for sure. Stayed tuned for spome pics of the carnage. Theres still mud on the dash from 5 years ago. 1983 Toyota 4x4 Trekker sr5 Chevy 350 Turbo 400 NP205 Tcase Toy Diffs 35" Mudders 7" Lift

looks like a keeper .. needs a little work , but definatly "workable" ..
save that dash pad first off .. looks pristine , and they are expencive and VERY hard to find .
rear roof section looks bad .. mine was that way , as well as the whole roof "checked" yours looks fairly freshly painted .. so it may be hiding some of the"cracks"
what are your plans/goals with this unit ?

Actauly painted at least 14 years ago, this was my very first vehicle i have ever bought.
My goals is take the topper off and fix, i hope as i dont have cash for a nice new one from you, man i wish!
Fix up the body , repaint do something with the interiour, stop the leaks!!!
I have 3 other vehicles and kids so this has to be a long economy build.

The reason my truck is in the garage and being worked on is because of this site! After looking at all of these Trekkers i had to revive mine! The last time i had my truck registered was 2007.

Yes ive done the back before, but didnt know alot about fiberglassing (still dont know alot) and it was rushed, so this time do it better take my time but dont have a lot of room. The lower box isnt that bad really at all but i had some fiberglass mistake i will post to you to see what i did wrong. What is the factory sealant? And can i still get it? One last thing what is karma to the left?

factory sealant was just " dumb dumb" remained flexable and "gooey" for life .. I know when I have ever taken any Trekkers apart it was usually a tough job . but that is 30 year old technology , and not real positive its avaliable anymore . I'm using a newer product on mine sikaflex .. it's real good stuff , and much like the original , will not harden , but stay flexable and waterproof . it's a "guage" of posts .. and how well and much you use the board .. good things is karma My left rear hatch hinge is super stiff and barley move, any way to fix it? Soak it or is it no good anymore? you could "punch" the pin out (If it will move) and then sand blast or acid dip .. I was able to free up mine , but the actuall hinge was so pitted , I oped to replace .. you can alway try free it up , and if wors come to worse ... you know I have them avaliable . a siezed hinge /hinges are usually the reason for the rear fiberglass damage .. .

Yes your right there was so much pressure on that side cause the hinge didnt really work all the pressure was on the fiberglass.
So should I always build up weak or broken fiberglass on the back side? And just use kitty hair on the out side so that its sandable?
Im going to have a lot of questions about this as i go if you dont mind??

So should I always build up weak or broken fiberglass on the back side? And just use kitty hair on the out side so that its sandable? Im going to have a lot of questions about this as i go if you dont mind?? no problem .. thats why I'm here repairing your canopy is going to be NO easy task .. and your easly going to spend some decent coinage on repair materials and "supplies" I can help you "recommend you the products you'll need to buy that being said this is not a "sales pitch" but if you are set on repairing .. your going to need a few hundred dollars in supplies (easly) .. and lots and lots of time to do it right .. I will help you as much as i can , but I want you to also know .. I didnt want to tackel this job , and this is why I built a NEW canopy from what I can see .. your roof is as "checked" as my old roof .. Every one of those little cracks is a hole .. have someone go inside and shine a mini mag light threw the fiberglass... you'll see it's actually a crack right threw the glass .. this ALL has to be repaired , or your roof will "seep" water always .. Only refinishing I see feesable on these original roofs are the "line-X/rhyno liner" outer shell coating fix ($$).. It will "seal" the cracks and hold it all together ... .
