Good grief, has it really been that long since my last post?! Wow, I suck! Rest assured this project is not dead. I ended up moving a year ago and then had to build a garage to stash and work on my projects. Not much progress to speak of during that time but hope to be on it again shortly. Promise to keep you updated! Next real project is to rebuild the rear side windows - dreading it still... Hope everyone is well!
Happy New Year everyone! Starting it off right with a quick update post. I've had the last week off so spent some time on the Trekker. Rebuilt the side windows using some channel I found by CRL. The part number 5P96 worked perfectly except that it only came in 8' lengths and the entire surround is around 9'. The place I got it from was kind enough to just send an extra couple feet and I fit it in. Mounted the canopy in a removable fashion by epoxying T-nuts on the underside of the fender so a bolt can simply go down from the top. For now it is also clamped to the cab support via some topper clamps but I hope to try some nutserts and a better way there. Got the rear hatch assembled and new struts in place. 30 psi units worked great and a Stabilus model SG359014 fit the bill. Got some of the interior reinstalled, have additional carpet pieces for the back to cover the fenderwells but considering keeping them off. Their install would require sewing (I'd rather not glue it in) and that's a bit out of this guys element! Now that it's closed up, it's back to my paint guy so he can cut and buff the job, do a few touch ups, and then fit the decals I got from Corey. Then more reassembly! Too much talk, on to the pictures.
Finally earned my stripes!! Waiting for my antenna to arrive to close up the wheel wells and finish up some details. Still a couple electrical gremlins to sort out and I also plan to re-do the exhaust. Excited to have it resembling the beautiful truck that's been in my mind for WAY too long! Hope everyone is well.
Still plugging away! Got the antenna and inner fenders installed along with the mudflaps. Also made my own liners out of some material I found at Home Depot. Stuff worked and looks perfect! Still need to figure out a rear bumper (I have the original but it's just too bulky) so looking for a single, oval tube or something. Need to finish up some interior odds and ends. I planned on using the original front door panels but decided to have some made to match the new carpet, seats, and rear panels. Still being made... Some pics!
So a totally random question and not sure where else to post, but does anyone have a clue where the jack and tools went in these trucks?! Was it just tossed in back or something? I cleaned up what came with the truck but no idea if it's the right stuff or not. The black pouch seems to have a metal rod along the top edge and a slit like it's supposed to hang somewhere. Not sure what to do with this stuff. Appreciate any ideas! Hope you guys are well.
