Fabrication rules!! Built a storage box... put ac converter in permanently!! filled in the blank spot for now!! found the gas shocks for hatch. 30lbs at myersrv.com 14.00$$$ but i am thinking of using actuator motors to open hatch, thus elimnating the need for a lock!!!

put ac converter in permanently!! the inverter is a cool thing to have. I am curious to why you wrapped it with some carpeting? When I have used an inverter they seem to generate an awful lot of heat. Seems like a risk IMO....

instead of padding the entire unit, why not just use the padding to the bottom mounts? than it only retains the heat on the bottom, you will than open up 270 degrees of the unit to dissapate the heat. I know that when I ran the stock inverter (it was mounted under the center console) in my old '05 tacoma I could feel the heat.

Here is everything you could possibly need to mount an ac power inverter. www.mcmaster.com/#rubber-grommets/=2t0yd4www.mcmaster.com/#socket-cap-screws/=2t0zcfwww.mcmaster.com/#specialty-bolts/=2t0zknwww.mcmaster.com/#screws/=2t0zrjDepending on what type of housing it is you may even be able to use the t-slot bolts, but most other inverters I have mounted what you end up doing is pulling the screws on the outer aluminum housing and it will pull apart in two sections lengthwise. Then drill a few holes through the aluminum housing and match them to a piece of metal that has the corresponding holes. The rubber grommets can be used as shock absorption placed either in between the inverter and the mounting plate, or placed inside the holes on the mounting plate itself. in the socket cap screws section the flange button top tend to have the least profile, but depending on the inverter you usually have tons of space for any type of hardware you want to use anyway. just open it up first and take a look. Ive done it this way many times and wheeled the ever living piss out of mine and it has held up terrific even after slamming the front end down from 40 degree wheelies onto rocks if that gets you any bench mark. But they are right the outer housing of the inverter is intended to be used as a heat sync so wrapping it in carpet is not the best solution. even doing what brunner suggested would be better than nothing and quick and easy. Hope this stuff is helpful man. I love the idea of using the sun roof for your rear window. Looks pimp
