Hello all! I'm hoping you guys don't discriminate against those of us who have Griffith Trailblazers? ;D Well an introduction, my name is Eric and I am the proud and enthusiastic owner of an '83 Trailblazer. 165,000 miles. I came across it when I was digging for information about the Trekker. A google search led me to the seller, who was less than 50 miles from me. It's a great story, the original owner(s) bought the vehicle in So Cal and moved to WA (near me) in the 90's. They documented the mileage at every oil change, fill up, wiper blade, etc. It's amazing the records they kept! And all the work was done at Toyota dealers. There is an entry from when they filled up in my small town in '93!! The husband passed away in '02 and it sat until '08 when the widow passed as well. The truck was donated to charity and it was bought at auction by the individual who I purchased it from. He put less than 100 miles on it as he was just looking to "flip" it and the rest of it's history will be written by me as I intend to keep it as long as I am around.
I am new to forums so I need to learn how to post some pictures, but stay tuned. It was originally a terra-cotta color that was horrible. It had some minor body work to do and the interior was in very nice shape when I got it. Since then, I had the body work done and had it painted a beautiful black and put new wheels/tires on it. (It was 100% stock with one exception...the radio.) I put a chrome grill and front bumper on it and repaired the rear hatch. (It needed new hydraulics and handle) and I intend on finding an original radio to put back in. I've got some SR-5 decals on order from jamesdeancreations.com as well. Next I need to solve some leaks in the fiberglass cap....since I am in western WA we get our fair share of wetness and the sunroof that's in the cap as well as the seal around the cap windows need some work. Other than that it's perfect.
If anybody knows of any fun, nostalgic Toyota clubs in the pacific northwest let me know. I'd still love to lay my eyes on a Trekker in person as well.
