yep .. it's on now .. I have read every bit of info from ORS site .. helps , but , I still dont see where anyone has done a 3.4L into a first gen ? anyway .. I have gone solo before .. I can always do it again just a little update .. Talked to Darin , and have the crossover , cats and O2's comming .. hopefully to make things easier . .

so .. I'm expecting my 3.4L on Sunday .. (i'm way not ready) so today I had some time to get the front clip spot welds drilled .. and almost ready to weld up to the body . I still want to sand blast/soda blast it ... to get it ready to weld up .. for the new engine . didnt have my camera today .. but I will get some .

so , as well , in my " spare time" ... I have been setting up my drill press , to drill out my shackles for my "greasable" option .. I had an old one that I was using for a "test" .. Got it drilled lengthwise .. and was very happy ... started to drill threw the bolt , for grease delivery , and NO way .. I bought a new "cobalt" 3/16" drill bit today , so hopefully that will work . .

So did it work? just curious...i don't think my little drill press would last long enough... no not a chance . It jus simply would NOT drill the stock shackle . drilled this way but NO way .. this way this was about 8-10 min. drilling total .. totaled the cobalt bit , and barely scrached the surface . I'm done for now .. I will just have to live with them not being greasable . .

do you know if you are going to have to mount that engine further forward then normal? or cut out the firewall for that exhaust cross over? or are you going to reroute the exhaust differently? lots and lots of questions

It was a great effort. ;D I think that the greaseable shackles is a good idea, but only reason I have them upfront was that they came with the kit... yeah .. I'm done for now .. maybe i'll get back on it when I "blow it apart" for the last time .. now it's time to build

do you know if you are going to have to mount that engine further forward then normal? or cut out the firewall for that exhaust cross over? or are you going to reroute the exhaust differently? lots and lots of questions Michael I dont really know ? as you know the 5VZfe has NOT been installed into a 79-83 body style yet .. (maybe , but no info in the net) . I was asking for some info on maybe a 3.0 into a 79-83 .. but same thing .. NO info on the net .. so I'm "playing this by ear" I dont know ? basically here is the plan . engine exhausts on the right side , so I will run exhaust and muffler down passenger side . NEW fuel tank will be mounted on the left , making necessary a new fuel opening on the opposite side . I dont know about the firewall yet .. so ya gotta bare with me , as I'm just learning this install . .

i know corey. i am excited to be able to watch this come together I know .. me 2 Nice to see some springs on this thing...you haven't mentioned it yet but are you going to be making more of this thing fiberglass than what came stock from Winnebago? Yep .. I already have the factory style front fenders , of course there going on .. and I'm thinking , i'm going to have to do a "custom" hood as well .... .. I'm also thinking , i'm going to do some door skins .. like the rear hatch repairs , I have been wanting to do them for quite a while now ... and eventually , I'm even going to build some 1/2 doors , and if that isnt enough , I also have some rocker outer skins in developement. whew .. I have lots of stuff to do

so lookey what I did today stuffed the rear springs and diff back on .. didnt get it por-15'd yet .. but that'll come later ... and yes , those are blocks .. for now . I needed my jack stands , so I made some little wood blocks .. for everything to sit on .. I guess I did pretty good on them , kuz , it's perfectly level moved the front diff over , and got it mounted as well .. same thing .. I still need to "detail" but for now , I have other stuff to do . grabbed my "cherry picker" .. and decided to see just how close the engine is to fitting on the stock mounts ... it sorta fits , but new motor mountd are definatly called for .. the right side actually "sortta fit" ... I was able to get one bolt in , and over 1/2 the hole is showing on the second bolt .. I'm going to "re-do " both sides . it's comming .

another question mostly i am asking this for my own project, but it applies to yours as well. i have been struggling with this one, so i am glad you are getting to it before i am! to get the drive train installed and positioned... cab off, on or both? (get everything in position, take everything out, put the cab on, install everything like it belongs there)

Glad you explained those evil black things inbetween you springs and axles... looking good. With that cross over pipe mounted about the engine looks like a good spring break project for your son to build some muscles swinging the BFH on your firewall yes , I will most likely go with a full spring . and not sure about the fire wall yet just dont know . another question mostly i am asking this for my own project, but it applies to yours as well. i have been struggling with this one, so i am glad you are getting to it before i am! to get the drive train installed and positioned... cab off, on or both? (get everything in position, take everything out, put the cab on, install everything like it belongs there) not sure either michael .. I'm going to get my mounts built , and then "tack" them into place .. I then have my front clip I'm going to put in place , and see how it fits . I want to get the front part of the cab on as well , but for now .. just lots of measuring .
