I have owned this truck since i bought it from my friend in 83. For years i ran a stepside box that i made up for it, then transfered it to another truck i used as a DD. This one has sat in my garage for the past 17 years, a few years back i started to hunt for a stock box until i came across Corey`s glass boxes. I had the box for over a year before i got paint on it but here it is. Started life in 1980 but now has a 350 Chevy, turbo 400, Dana 20 Tcase. The rear is a Ford 9 with Toyota spindles and disk brakes. We call this my retro PU cause thats the way we did it in the 80`s 71,000 kms on the odometer.

stupid rear end question: with the drive flanges does that turn it into a full floater?
very nice truck....

Yes it is a full floater, i had the axle shafts made by Strange Engineering, 31 spline Ford on one end and 30 spline Toyota on the other. Paul: all my friends call this the "Retro Toyota" i built it back in the 80s and it's been in my garage since. Not much in the flex department but it goes like a raped ape in a straight line, more of a mud truck really.

TOYODA , it used to be spelled with a "D"

yes , Toyoda was the name of the family that originally started the original loom building business , and still today , ownes a fairly large "chunk" of the corporation . In the late 30's they incorporated , and ran a contest for a new logo .. The winning logo was round and red , with 3 japanese leters , but one member of the family didnt like it , because it was to long to wright , so they changed it to " toyota" which in japanese , is easier to wright ... which is the logo you have .
.
EDIT : wait a sec ... I think that is the "spelling" of TOYODA ... I believe the change to the logo was the 3 "brush strokes" on the last character ... toyota does not have those .

Been working on changing over to EFI, mostly for driveability and mileage. So off came the Z28 intake and the QJet, and on goes a 88 TPI system. Unit started as a MAF system but i am converting to MAP. Intake is on for good the rest is on for mock up of coolant lines, throttle, and such. Dr side header is in for recoating after an O2 bung install.

I had to add a bung for the O2 sensor so recoating my header was needed. Maurice did such a nice job, and it looks so much better than the other i will have to get that one done too.

Ran heater hoses last week and just didn't like the way they looked. Grabbed a few feet of hydrolic tubing and bent them up welded them together, added some mounting tabs and had them coated. They bolt on using the rocker box bolts, i think they look way cleaner. Also finally found a uncut radio bezel, now i need a stock radio, doesn't need to work as i am only using the face and knobs.

Was having a tough time finding a thermostat housing that would fit, all were pointing in the wrong direction. So i bought a 360* swivel unit, this turned out to be to tall.Gave up looking and made my own. Took the stock housing, cut off the mounting tabs and broke out the files. Copied the profile from the bought unit to the stock one and Bob's your uncle, thermostat housing that fits. The stuff you have to do.
