Ive decided that I need to pass my Trekker on to the next person that's going to have the time to restore it correctly. Ive been working on my 71 VW Westie and just found a big crack in the block so a new engine is in order.... so the Trekker has to go to free up some funds, and I need the garage space back! Based on its condition and what Ive seen 1st gen pickups going for on Ebay Im going to ask $3000 for it, hoping that I can turn a little profit and buy a new long block for my Westie, do you guys think thats a fair price? It has brand new Yokohama Geolander AT-S tires, all new clutch hydraulics, all new cooling system hoses and heater hoses, water pump, exhaust, belts, I just changed the trans, transfer case and both diffs fluid, new fuel & air filter and I think thats about it! It starts right up every time and runs good, I do have a full valve cover gasket kit that I just bought, I would like to give the valves a once over to see if I can get the 22R tick to die down a little. Let me know what you think! Attachments:

I would take it into a detail shop .. and have them do the engine bay area , as well as some new undercoat + interior clean ..
and not sure about your market area ? and depressed economy .. but after above suggestions , I would be asking ~ 4G

That's a nice Trekker; sorry to hear you want to sell it. I would have been interested in it, except I bought a 81 vette a month ago. It's not a Trekker, but it is Fiberglass. I have had several people tell me if I ever decide to sell my truck to let them know. I will check around to see if anyone would want to look at yours. (You don't live too far from VA.) In this area I think I would start off at $3,500.00.

Thanks for the feedback! Im still on the fence about selling it after all I went through to buy it!! I would love to have the garage space back and to be 100% honest with my 88 4x4 yota I really dont need the Trekker. Im going to rub the paint out and clean the crap out of the interior, I may even try to put the door panels back in and re evaluate it, I wish the local pick and pull wouldnt have crushed a whole row of 1st gen pickups because no one was buying parts, there were a few out there that were in really nice shape! Anyway, Ill keep you all informed! Good luck with the Vette! My dad still kicks himself in the ass, he traded his 68 stingray in for a brand new 1979 2wd hilux when my brother was born!!!

The 2nd owner stopped by my house today with his wife... Ive known her for years, anyway they were dropping off a few old air cooled VW parts for me. I found out that his cousin was the 1st owner of my Trekker, he bought it new in 82, he is going to try and get me more info and pictures of it from "back in the day"!!! Just thought that was cool. He told me about installing the carpet etc, it was a good visit! He was impressed with the few visable things Ive done like the wheels and tires!
