Well I already posted some pics here and there but I figure I should start a build/restore thread.
Mine is a 83 Trailblazer with 122+k miles(the tenths count off but nothing else) Everything works great minus the A/C, which will be the first thing I get fixed due to living in florida. Ive already started taking care of the rust though I need to find some one local that can do good body work to get rid of the bad spots. Here are some pics of when I got it home and then once I got done with the sanding/primer.
Very Cool!. Welcome to the Forum. I know Okiyota used to have a Trailblazer in addition to his Trekker. Your trailblazer seems to be in overall very good condition. Good call on looking for rust in the floorboards. It turned out that mine had multiple layers of carpeting which did a great job of acting like a sponge and rusting out my driver's side floor pan.
Any major plans for your truck? Thanks also for posting the picture of the rear of your truck. I was curious how they did the tailgate area. I like it better than the Trekkers since you could use the Tailgate for sitting or something and the lip of the tailgate is level with the floor of the bed. The Trekker hatch leaving about a 3-4" high lip uneven with floor so getting junk in an out is not that great...
only plans for now......rust gone, mild lift(where should I look for that?) tires and locker/s. I plan on leaving the body alone, really wouldnt feel right cutting up a rare ride
Oh first thing is to get the A/C fixed since living in florida can be HELL with out A/C
Man, that thing looks great xray! It's so clean! Some mild body (depending on whats hiding under the carpet) and some new paint and you'll have a real gem. Good find. Thanks for the tailgate shots. I think I like that better than the trekker too. It's really like you said, just a truck with a topper but you have access to the back from the inside. It's like the Trekker morphed into the Trailblazer then into the first 4Runner. Very cool.
after about 2 hours of work Im to this point, had to stop to go to the inlaws
Not a drop of rust on the inside only problem is the passenger seat wont come out cause the bolts I guessed broke and a OP welded the seat bracket down
