A small update... My Weber 32/36 and header arrived this past week so I decided to do a little engine compartment cleanup. It amazes me how much "emissions" junk is on these awesome little motors...and this was put on in 1982!! Hahaha....so anyway...out with the old!! A few parts on the left...are replacing all those parts on the right...WOOOHOOO...I love simplicity!! Looking much better... Fired it up with the open header just to tune the carb a little...LOVE that sound! I'm still waiting on my Crawler cam from Engnbldr, should be here this week, as well as the materials to fab my exhaust. The exhaust will be 2" all the way back with a Dynomax turbo muffler. Now I have a new problem to diagnose...my charge light stays on now...so I guess I'll start by testing my alternator. LOL...it never ends.

nice ... I did a weber 38 mm on my old , old truck .. with the header and RV cam ect .. I loved it .. went like a raped ape .. (with the gears installed )
dont get rid of your old stuff either .. I have seen exhaust mans and aircleaners in the WANTED sections on a few other boards .. or might try ebay , (if you do that ? )
as far as the charge lamp ... 9 times out of 10 it`s just the brushes in side the alt that need to be changed .. about 5 bucks and some time

Charge light problem solved. Turns out it was the lead going to the Weber's electric choke. I used the same lead that was hooked up to the Aisin choke but for some reason that made the charge light stay on...as soon as I'd pull it off the Weber choke assembly, the light would go off. So, I just found another wire in that (now unused) Aisin carb harness that was 12V with the key on and used it. No more light on and it runs great!!
Next problem is gonna be hooking up the new exhaust. I went with a Hooker header from Summit and it is gonna be a TIGHT fit right at the collector flange. As a matter of fact, the flange itself is rubbing the factory heatshield that sits right under where the gas pedal is. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet...any suggestions welcomed.

So, a quick update... I swapped out the cam this past weekend...I put the Engnbldr 261C "Crawler" cam in. It made a very noticeable difference. I think there will be an even bigger difference once I finish the exhaust work. Friday she's gettin a new windshield and as soon as that's done I'll be getting a state safety inspection and sticker. THEN, I will finish removing the stock exhaust and replacing it with 2" from the header all the way back with a Dynomax super turbo muffler. (notice I didn't mention a cat? )

did you happen to keep track of what you yanked as far as emissions/vacuum lines? I am having intermittent carb issues and am thinking about doing the webber conversion? ( I really want to do propane but the weber is more realistic budget wise)

I have the Weber 32/36 and headers (without a cat) on my Trekker and it made a big differance. Does better on gas too.

( I really want to do propane but the weber is more realistic budget wise) Robb, You can yank ALL of the emissions/vacuum stuff if you convert to a Weber. All you need is one vacuum line from the base of the Weber to your vac advance on the distributor. (and a switched 12V lead for the choke) DO IT....you'll love it. Pat

That FP regulator was a POS...I took it off and returned it to AutoZone. Goes straight from fuel pump to the carb now and runs just great.

Well I took advantage of the long weekend and finished my exhaust. Reduced it down to 2" at the header collector and went all the way back...Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. It sounds really good!! Has a nice mellow chattery low note at idle that opens up really sweet at around 2500 RPMs...I am quite pleased! ;D Hmmm....what to do next?? ;D
