The frame on the Trekker I just bought has alot of rust on it. In some places it is breaking off in plaes. Or should I say peeling off. I'm pretty sure that I will at least have to cut off the spare tire carrier and replace.
My question is are the frames from '79 thru '83 the same? If I am looking for a new frame what years can I look for? Someone told me that the '84 and '85 frames are the same. I'm not sure about that. If anyone has any info I would be greatful.

Does anyone know how much different the '84-'85 frames are. They have the same wheel base, short bed wise. And the Axles I think have the same mounting deminsions.

2gen frames are "basically " the same dimentially .. mount positions are NOT the same , so cab mounts are different , and I think the rad support is dimentially off (longer on the 84-88) , and box/trekker mounts would all have to be relocated .. other things like fuel tank would interferance with the tub so drop brackets would have to be made , rad support would also need a wee bit of modification ..
other then that .. it would work ..
