Heavy rains this week in NC this week showed me the hard way that the seal on the back hatch dosn't "seal". I can tell that it was replaced when the rest of the truck was done, but it may not have been the right fit. Any ideas before I drown?

check you lock catch , you may have to "adjust" it ... it might not be tight against the seal .. also , your hinges might not be moving freely , check to make sure the pins are not rusted you may have to replace www.toyotafiberglass.com/Trekker.htm .

The latch is tight, but the gasket folds up on itself in the top

yeah .. folds and creases are not good .. that would be most likely where the water is penetrating
